Just Add it to the List...
Got a letter from Crazy Crotch Doctor today. Usually these letters are all like, "You’re in good shape. Rock on!" Not this one, though. Seems my crotch is fine, but my fasting blood sugar was low (duh, I’ve passed out like three times from as a result of low blood sugar and when you do a fasting test you’re not supposed to eat anything) and apparently I have a decreased hemoglobin/hematocrit (iron deficiency). Basically not only do I suffer from bouts of hypoglycemia and need to "eat more" but now I’m "anemic"* too. Pft. Whateeeevs, as the kids say.
Thanks a lot Crazy Crotch Doctor, bearer of all things bad. I’ll be sure to add these to the list of reasons why I hate you.
-K.
*I’m not gonna lie. One of the symptoms of anemia is being really pale, and I’ve noticed my white ass has been even whiter lately. It all makes sense.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm a vegetarian so it'll have to be pills for me.
Apparently I need more spinach!
baby spinach is awesome! try it with some sliced strawberries, slivered almonds and a raspberry vinegrette.......or mixed with some romaine, mangoes, pine nuts, avocado, and a miso dressing...mmmmmm..
I used to take supplements, but there was only one vegetarian supplement that I liked and I can't find it anymore. Long, boring story short, I liked it because most iron supplements require that you add a lot of fiber to your diet, if you catch my meaning, and this one didn't.
The downside is that any route you go takes two weeks to kick in.
My mom is anemic, so that coupled with being a vegetarian, I'm not surprised that I have problems.
I actually love apricots, and had a craving for them the other day so I went out and got some dried ones. Ah, body. You're so crazy in your cravings because you're deficent in something.
Mangoes make me want to vomit, so it's a no-go on those.
I'll probably end up taking some sort of pill like my mom does. I have to go in for more blood work, so we'll see what the doctor says. I'm just waiting for the crappy thyroid to kick in. Crazy, iron problems, thyroid problems weight problems, and diabetes. I love my genetics!!!
